I have spent the last twenty years building frameworks. Each one explained more than the last, and each one pointed at the same uncomfortable possibility... that the patterns I kept finding in markets were not really about markets at all.
It started with debt and demographics. Then technology compounding. Then global liquidity. By the time The Everything Code came together, I could see one architecture sitting underneath everything we were trading. But the strangeness was that the same architecture kept appearing in places that had nothing to do with finance. The mycorrhizal networks beneath a forest. The reef systems off Little Cayman. The structure of the cosmic web that astronomers have now mapped at the largest scales we can see. All of them organising themselves the same way. All of them running on the same code.
The Universal Code is my attempt to take that seriously.
The defining law is simple to state and quietly enormous in its implications. Everything observable is a process of converting energy into intelligence. Stars do it. Cells do it. Forests do it. Economies do it. Markets do it. AI does it most efficiently of all. Across every scale we can measure, systems evolve toward maximising the amount of intelligence they can produce per unit of energy they consume. That is the First Law. Three more sit underneath it, governing how networks form, how coherence emerges and how complexity gets compressed into the patterns we eventually recognise as form, behaviour or thought.
If that is right, then the boundary we draw between the financial world and the natural world is mostly a habit of language. The forest and the order book are doing the same thing in different materials.
I am cautious here, because this is the kind of claim that gets written badly more often than it gets written well. The Vedic tradition saw the whole through introspection, three thousand years before our instruments could keep up. Western science has spent the last century confirming the parts. What feels new is that the parts are finally close enough together that you can see them lining up.
I do not think I am the author of this. I think I am someone who happened to be looking at enough domains at once for the convergence to become visible. The book is where I work it out properly. It is the project I will probably be remembered for, if anything.
